Many people take a while to process the news and may go through a grieving period. If you have recently experienced death of a loved one, then you are probably suffering through emotional pain in response to your loss. Grief is a very common emotion experienced by people of all ages. Every year in America, 4% of children younger than the age of 15 lose a parent through death. With such dramatic ratio before us, it is only logical to find a way to deal with such a tragic loss. Perhaps there is no other time in our lives when our guardian angels are more active or needed than at the moment of our earthly demise. Death, the event we always cloak in a shroud of mystery, and fear, eventually comes to all of us. Hiding from it, never speaking about it, or being ignorant of it, does not help us at all. In death, one steps into one's thoughts, seemingly a small, natural step, yet from a material standpoint, it is extreme and abrupt. In time, the soul/spirit's attention finds a different focus. For those who receive prayers from loved ones on earth, this is a time when it is needed the most. And whether you believe the miracles recorded in the Gospels actually happened or not, doesn't really matter in the end - what matters with this story, as with all the stories recounted about Jesus, is the message or messages they bear. The spiritual teaching embodied in this story about the widow is for me profound, and not only puts a capital G in the Good News but also brings a real hope to us as we become aware of our true destiny as the beloved children of God. This story emphatically states that Jesus is the Son of God, and is the Resurrection and the Life; that only God has the answer to the human reality of death; and that we now have a real and vital hope for true healing and restoration in the future, and can begin to put death in its place. Times change. No more cranking! With Sizzix's Big Shot Express Machine cranking for your scrapbooking is gone! Plug it in to your electrical outlet and let the machine do the work for you. Even Sizzix's long dies will cut in two seconds. Oh yes, seconds that count, and that allow your arm to still glue your creations onto the page. A time saver, an arm saver, and the perfection that comes from having a quick and electrical machine working for you. What more could you ask for? It is heart wrenching to watch the fear cross a loved ones face if they have been diagnosed with a terminal illness. The tragedy is compounded, because again the little time that they have left is spent in fear of drawing their last breath. Therefore, it is irrational for the Christian to fear death when Christ himself has taken away the sting (fear) of death and promised us eternal life.
