ects in near-real time.Sclerosing encapsulating peritonitis (SEP) is a disease that is rarely encountered clinically. Preoperative diagnosis of SEP can be difficult. However, with imaging technology, such as computed tomography (CT), this condition can be diagnosed without surgery and pathological analysis. SEP is characterized by small intestine being partially or completely encased by a layer of a thick grayish-white fibrocollagenous membrane similar to a cocoon. The most common symptoms of SEP are abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. SEP often leads to intestinal obstruction. Our hospital treated three emergency patients who complained of acute or chronic abdominal pain. CT showed "cauliflower sign" in two cases. The three patients were diagnosed with SEP intraoperatively. In a female patient with ascites, the situation was extremely serious, and this condition had not been reported in detail previously. Fortunately, all patients were discharged without complications. We should pay special attention to patients with SEP who have ascites, which indicates a serious situation.Tai Chi Chuan (TCC) is a promising intervention against age-related decline. Though previous studies have shown benefits in motoric and cognitive domains, it is unclear how these effects are functionally related. Therefore, a randomized controlled trial was conducted in an aging population (53-85). Two measures of motor functioning - motor speed and functional balance - and three cognitive control measures - shifting, updating and inhibition - were included. The TCC condition consisted of an online 10 week 20 lessons video program of increasing level and control condition of educational videos of similar length and frequency. All analyses were done with Bayesian statistics. Counter to expectation no differences were found in cognition between TCC and control pre-to-posttest. However, there was extreme evidence for TCC benefits on functional balance and moderate evidence for increased motoric speed. After weighing the evidence and limitations of the intervention we conclude that TCC does not enhance cognitive control. This study was performed to obtain normative data of the distal femoral cartilage thickness in healthy adults by ultrasound. This cross-sectional study included 72 healthy adults. The demographic characteristics of the participants were recorded, and the thickness of the femoral articular cartilage was measured using a 5- to 18-MHz linear probe. Significant statistical difference towards the male side at left medial condyle (P = 0.001) and left lateral condyle (P = 0.009). Weakly positive statistical difference was noted towards the male side at right medial condyle (P = 0.06) and right lateral condyle (P = 0.07). The femoral cartilage thickness in the study participants did not correlate with weight, body mass index, and age (P >0.05). Positive statistical correlation with height noted in right medial condyle, right lateral condyle, right intercondylar area, and left medial condyle. Materials & methods Retrospective, multicenter study assessing the safety of AIT in patients aged 5 to 65 years with AR, with or without asthma, sensitized to mites. Secondary objective was effectiveness, measured as unscheduled visits to healthcare centers and emergency rooms, rhinitis and asthma evolution, medication use and patients' and physicians' disease perception 12 months before and after treatment. Results The 306 patients evaluated, with a mean (standard deviation) age of 29.68 (14.66) years, received different treatment compositions and regimens, and 25 (8.2%) experienced nonserious adverse reactions. Conjunctival melanoma may involve the lacrimal drainage apparatus (LDA) via spread along the canalicular epithelium, separate in situ processes, or direct invasion. Only seven cases exist in the literature where conjunctival melanoma remotely recurred in the LDA. We report three additional patients, two with invasive conjunctival melanoma and one with primary acquired melanosis (PAM) with severe atypia/melanoma in situ, who developed LDA melanoma at 5, 8, and 16 years after initial treatment of conjunctival melanoma. This report confirms the ability of conjunctival melanoma to give rise to spatially and temporally remote LDA melanoma despite adequate local treatment, and reviews the proposed mechanisms and associated characteristics of LDA recurrence in conjunctival melanoma.
