Security is currently one of the top concerns in our society. From governmental installations to private companies and medical institutions, they all have to address directly with security issues as access to restricted information quarantine control, or criminal tracking. As an example, identifying patients is critical in hospitals or geriatrics in order to isolate infected people, which has proven to be a non- trivial issue with the COVID-19 pandemic that is currently affecting all countries, or to locate fled patients. Face recognition is then a non-intrusive alternative for performing these tasks. Although FaceNet from Google has proved to be almost perfect, in a multi-face scenario its performance decays rapidly. In order to mitigate this loss of performance, in this paper a cluster based on the Neural Computer Stick version 2 and OpenVINO by Intel is proposed. A detailed power and runtime study is shown for two programming models, namely multithreading and multiprocessing. Furthermore, 3 different hosts have been considered. In the most efficient configuration, an average of 6 frames per second has been achieved using the Raspberry Pi 4 as host and with a power consumption of just 11.2W, increasing by a factor of 3.3X the energy efficiency with respect to a PC-based solution in a multi-face scenario.One of the negative components of international travel is the higher likelihood of emergencies that affect a large number of people (mass negative impact on health), for example the transmission of infectious diseases, as e.g. SARS CoV-2 pandemic. The frequency and sources of mass-casualty incidents are currently changing dynamically, especially with the onset of terrorist attacks and large-scale natural disasters. Health services and emergency medical service (EMS) take part in addressing these emergencies. For this reason, this paper deals with the EMS emergency preparedness in the Czech Republic for an emergency events with a large number of affected people. EMS in the Czech Republic are not provided by the state but by individual regions. EMS in the Czech Republic do not have central management, nor do they use uniform data documentation. The investigation of the current situation has shown that the attitudes of EMS in individual regions of the Czech Republic to the tasks of emergency preparedness for mass casualty incidents are not identical. The current method of evaluating improvements in the quality of EMS emergency preparedness lacks consistency and is not comprehensively supervised. The latest European heart failure guidelines define patients as those with reduced (HFrEF), mid-range, and preserved (HFpEF) left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF; <40%, 40%-49%, and ≥50%, respectively). We investigated the causes of rehospitalizations/deaths in our institution's heart failure patients and focused on differences in the clinical presentation, risk profile, and long-term outcomes between the HFrEF and HFpEF groups in a real-life scenario. We followed 1274 patients discharged from heart failure hospitalization in 2 centres. The mean patient age was 75.9 years, and men and women were represented equally. During the minimal follow-up of 2 years, 57% of patients were hospitalised for any cause, 24.9% for decompensated heart failure, and 43.3% for any cardiovascular cause. A total of 36.1% of patients died, either with prior (11.8%) or without prior (24.3%) heart failure rehospitalization. Heart failure was also the most frequent cause of cardiovascular hospitalization, followed by gastroifiles, and cardiovascular event rates.To elucidate the genetics of coronary artery disease (CAD) in the Japanese population, we conducted a large-scale genome-wide association study of 168,228 individuals of Japanese ancestry (25,892 cases and 142,336 controls) with genotype imputation using a newly developed reference panel of Japanese haplotypes including 1,781 CAD cases and 2,636 controls. We detected eight new susceptibility loci and Japanese-specific rare variants contributing to disease severity and increased cardiovascular mortality. We then conducted a trans-ancestry meta-analysis and discovered 35 additional new loci. Using the meta-analysis results, we derived a polygenic risk score (PRS) for CAD, which outperformed those derived from either Japanese or European genome-wide association studies. The PRS prioritized risk factors among various clinical parameters and segregated individuals with increased risk of long-term cardiovascular mortality. Our data improve the clinical characterization of CAD genetics and suggest the utility of trans-ancestry meta-analysis for PRS derivation in non-European populations.
